Scorpius® Sprite: Mini-Lift Launch Vehicle 1,060 lbs. to 100 NMi Low Earth Orbit for total launch cost of ~$5.2 million by tenth production flight. Uses much of the suborbital technology and approach. Testbed for larger orbital vehicles. Total height = 54.2 ft. Overall Diameter = 11.2 ft. Six 42-inch diameter pods around a 42-inch diameter central core. Three stages, six 20K lb engines for stage 1, one 20K lb engine for stage 2, one 2.3K lb engine for stage 3. Simple launch operations, 8 hour launch from time of vehicle arrival on launch pad. Sprite is designed to meet the need for low-cost, small-payload capability while verifying the technology for larger vehicles with much lower cost per pound.
